End-of-year dental insurance tips

The end of the year brings an important event to your dental care that you may not have thought about.  If you have dental insurance, your coverage may have benefits that change or expire at midnight on December 31st.  We’ve got key points you’ll want to consider as the year draws to a close.

Benefits. Most dental insurance policies set aside a certain amount for your coverage during the calendar year.  If you’re not current on your cleaning or other procedures, chances are there’s extra money in your account—but only until the end of the calendar year.  After that, the coverage doesn’t roll over into the next year.  It’s gone for good.

Deductibles. From year to year, it’s a good idea to keep up with your coverage and its deductible.  The amount often changes each year, and your deductible resets every January 1st.  Make sure you know how much it is so you can use the coverage before the end of the year.

Coverage.  Most dental insurance pays total coverage—that’s 100%—of the cost of routine checkups.  If you have coverage and aren’t staying current with your dental health schedule, you’re already throwing money away.

Bottom line? If you have dental insurance through your workplace or as an individual, the time to take advantage of coverage and benefits is before the clock strikes midnight on December 31st. Call us at 501-975-1539 and schedule an exam now!
